He pulls his arms in to avoid contacting the ball as it flies right at his chest, but it ends up striking one of them directly in front of his body. The ball was also deflected by an attacker just in front of him.
Given that he was diminishing rather than extending his silhouette, and that the ball would have hit him with or without his arm, it appears fair to allow play to continue. Gallagher concurred.
