Chelsea manager Graham Potter praised Kante as he discussed his possible return for the Blues’ Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid on April 12.
“Managers before me have spoken very highly of N’Golo Kante because he is a top, top player,” he said.
“He’s been a huge loss for us, but that’s not to say the other players haven’t given their all, because they have.” But N’Golo Kante is a top player.”
N’golo Kante, 31, looked sharp in his debut for the club’s development squad against Charlton, as the home side won 3-0 thanks to goals from Dion Rankine, Silko Thomas, and Malik Mothersille.
Thiago Silva and Mason Mount, who wore a Chelsea shirt with Kante’s name and number on the front, also supported the France international, who had been out for seven months.
Opinion: Why the return of N’Golo Kante is a blessing in disguise for Chelsea
“Love the fact Mason Mount and Thiago Silva were giving support to N’Golo Kante today in the arranged friendly for him,” one fan said.
Another person stated:
“Mason Mount and Thiago Silva are cheering him on from the stands. Class.”
