According to Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports News, Chelsea is looking to bolster their defensive options, and they are considering Bayer Leverkusen and Ecuador World Cup star defender Piero Hincapie as a possible Josko Gvardiol replacement.

Hincapie, 20, has signed a contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2026 after joining from Argentina’s Club Atletico Talleres. Blues can wrap up the deal for the youngster for around €30m.

Meanwhile, according to Marca, Chelsea are considering a January bid for Barcelona’s mercurial winger Ousmane Dembele. The Blues have been linked to the 25-year-old for a long time and missed out on signing him as a free agent last summer.

He did, however, sign a new two-year contract extension with the Catalan club, extending his stay until 2024. According to the report, the Frenchman has a €50 million release clause that will go into effect this summer.

The deal is ‘100%’ closed, according to Romano, and the player will join the London Blues in 2023.
