Petr Cech, a former Chelsea star, believes the Blues will do well in their first few Premier League games under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Cech feels Chelsea’s pre-season record will benefit them when the 2023/24 Premier League season begins. So far this summer, Chelsea has gone undefeated in pre-season matches.
Pochettino’s team has won games against Fulham, Brighton, and Wrexham FC. They took home the Premier League Summer Series as well as the Florida Cup.
“Chelsea has had a very good pre-season so far.” They invested in the team and changed the manager, so they will normally have the highest hopes,” Cech told Sky Sports (via Football Daily).
“And they’ll want to do much better than they did last season, and they’ll want to be back in the Champions League and compete for the top spots.”
“As I said, one thing is to have a successful pre-season, the other thing is to start well and get points in the Premier League,” he continued. But I believe they can be optimistic heading into the first few games.”
