After Kaizer Chiefs’ 1-0 loss to SuperSport United last weekend, team supporters insulted head coach Arthur Zwane. The club has since fixed the issue.

The defeat to Matsatsantsa effectively ended the team’s hopes of competing in Europe next season. The Amakhosi faithful then attacked Zwane and pelted him with things as he approached the tunnel.

“Kaizer Chiefs would like to confirm that coach, Arthur Zwane is fine following the incident that occurred at the end of the match against SuperSport United at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace on Saturday,”

the club said in a statement.

As the coach was exiting the pitch after delivering his post-match interview, a few irate fans hurled things at him. The SAPS and security officers on the scene responded immediately to restore order.

“One of the officers accidentally struck the coach with his shield while protecting the people leaving the pitch, causing a small cut to his cheek.”

“The doctor immediately assessed the coach in the locker room and determined that he was fine.”

He returned to Johannesburg on the team bus, along with the other players, without further medical attention.

“While the Club recognizes that supporters were disappointed with the outcome, such expressions of dissatisfaction as were seen in Phokeng on Saturday are unacceptable.”

As we prepare for our final game of the season, we ask the Amakhosi Faithful to gather behind the players and the coach and motivate us to end the season strong. The players and technical staff are giving it their all on the field, so let’s stick together and offer them all the help we can.
