Havertz, who left for London on Sunday, started Germany’s 2-0 friendly win over Peru on Saturday.

He will not play in Germany’s upcoming match against Belgium on Tuesday.

Reece James, who had a hamstring injury, has also returned to the west London club, making Havertz the second Chelsea player to miss out on international duty this weekend.

Good news as Kai Havertz accepted a “free role” in Chelsea’s lineup

The German international will try to recover in time for Chelsea’s next Premier League match on April 1 against Aston Villa.
