Dominik Szoboszlai’s corner was headed towards goal by Luis Diaz, who scored Liverpool’s first goal, but it struck Jackson’s hand at point blank range as he leapt for the ball.

The Chelsea forward’s hand was close to his chest, though, and VAR ruled that the conduct was not worthy of a penalty and allowed play on.

While supporters were divided on whether the judgment was correct, many Liverpool fans were not pleased.

Liverpool fans are outraged by the VAR ruling.

One Liverpool fan responded to the decision on Twitter, writing:

CHE 1-LIV 1 (HT): Axel Disasi and Luis Diaz score for Chelsea and Liverpool in the first half

Liverpool robbed here imo.” Handball results in a penalty, especially if it occurs during a game, after a hit or header, when the hand affects the direction of the ball.”

“I have no idea how that wasn’t a Liverpool penalty,” said another. It’s not like his hands were pressed up against his body. Odd officiating.”
