Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino says the team is ‘working very hard’ to secure its transfer targets this summer, but he hasn’t provided an update on the club’s pursuit of Moises Caicedo.
Caicedo has been seen as the ideal companion for record acquisition Enzo Fernandez, but Brighton have rejected a second bid from Chelsea worth £70 million for the Ecuadorian.
Despite that setback, Pochettino maintains the club’s recruitment team is still working hard to bring in new faces, and he is satisfied with the work they have done thus far.
Pochettino stated at a news conference in North Carolina on Tuesday about the rejected Caicedo bid:

‘Well, I think all the teams are working very hard to try to achieve what we want.
‘I’m not going to mention anybody because I believe the most important thing is the players we have.
‘However, I believe that, like us, many, many clubs are in the process of signing individuals who can help all of these teams. But I’m not going to discuss the precise name because I believe it is disrespectful to do so.’
‘Of course, I think yeah, we’re still working in the process to create the squad, to finish the roster,’ Pochettino added.
‘We’re working very hard. We have a young squad as well, but I believe the players are committed and working hard.
‘All we can say is that we are really thrilled with the way they are working, but of course, we still need to work during this pre-season to construct a really strong squad first, and then to evolve in the style that we want to play, and then to implement all the concepts and what we expect from them,’ says the team.
