Mamelodi Sundowns football club’s defender Nicholus Lukhubeni are one of the Brazilians players who will have to wait for the club to decide on his future.
Mamelodi Sundowns: Lukhubeni has spent the last three seasons away from Sundowns on several loan spells in the DStv Premiership.
The last time he played for Sundowns was in the 2019/2020 campaign as he went on to play for Maritzburg United, Sekhukhune United, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila and Swallows FC.
The 27-year-old spent the 2022/23 campaign at Moroka Swallows FC in the DStv Premiership away from Chloorkop on loan and had his fair share of game-time making 25 appearances.
Now with his loan spell coming to an end, Swallows has shown interest in signing him for the upcoming campaign.
Swallows chairman David Mogashoa confirmed that they are interested in Lukhubeni, but it will depend on what Mamelodi Sundowns decides.
“The deal depends on Sundowns, we’re open for discussion,” Mogashoa told FARPost.
“If they’re willing to let him come to Swallows for another season. We will definitely sit down with the coach and see if he fits in his plans.
“Remember here it’s not about me, it’s about the coach. So he has to fit in the coach’s plans for next season.”
Mogashoa also said that he will leave the decision of Lukhubeni returning to Swallows to coach Musa Nyatama to make the call if he wants him in his squad next season.
“If coach Musa wants to continue with him in the following season, I don’t see any reason we can’t keep him,” Mogashoa added.
Sundowns has a full squad of players with competition stiff for game-time therefore Lukhubeni might not be in the plans of the Chloorkop base outfit going forward.
