Chelsea striker, Kai Havertz has accepted a “free role” in Chelsea’s lineup, which is fantastic news.
Kai Havertz believes that playing a free role in Chelsea’s attacking line has aided his form.
Although there is some debate about whether Kai Havertz is ready for the position, he has never stopped since his €85 million move to Stamford Bridge in 2020. Depending on the formation, the German star can play as a No.10 or as a traditional striker.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s struggle for attacking consistency forced Graham Potter to try different positions for Havertz. The English manager appears to have finally gotten the best out of the 23-year-old in his fluid attacking line.
“I like this position [in a fluid front three], it’s quite a free role, and I’m allowed to come deeper,” Havertz told Chelsea’s official website.
Having said that,
“I also enjoy playing as a number nine, so having those options is beneficial. I’m willing to do whatever the manager asks of me for the team.”
Havertz, on the other hand, has scored in the Blues’ last two games, helping them recover from a losing streak.
He went on to say:
“With the system we’re using right now, it’s very fluid. It means I can be free, especially offensively, and find opportunities to play.”
