Enzo Fernandez, the newly signed Chelsea midfielder, has praised the club’s co-owner Todd Boehly for “doing everything they could” to complete his £107 million transfer.
Enzo Fernandez: Fernandez has signed an eight-and-a-half-year contract with Chelsea after the Blues paid a British-record fee to Benfica.
The fee paid for the 22-year-old midfielder has surpassed Jack Grealish’s £100 million transfer from Aston Villa to Manchester City in August 2021.
Fernandez underwent a medical on deadline day in Lisbon following a late breakthrough in negotiations before paperwork was submitted just in time.
He has now thanked Chelsea and Boehly for their perseverance.
