Chelsea defeated Leicester City 3-1 at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, their third consecutive victory in all competitions. The Blues’ first away victory since a 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park in October of last year.
After latching onto a cross at the far post and volleying past goalkeeper Danny Ward, Ben Chilwell put the Blues ahead against his former club. Patson Daka then equalized for the hosts with a driven shot from the edge of the box.
Kai Havertz’s goal was arguably the best of the game, as he combined devastatingly with Enzo Fernandez to chip home a glorious strike to reclaim Chelsea’s lead. With ten minutes remaining, Mateo Kovacic sealed the three points with a brilliant, acrobatic effort.
Chelsea are currently 11 points adrift of the top four, and if they continue to win back-to-back games, their hopes of finishing in the top four may materialize.
