Chelsea won the inaugural Premier League Summer Series on Sunday, defeating Fulham 2-0 at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.
Thiago Silva goal, a Brazilian defender, put Chelsea ahead in the 20th minute after connecting Ben Chilwell’s inswinging corner at the near post. Summer signing Christopher Nkunku put his new team up 2-0 four minutes before halftime, following a saved effort from midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.
Chelsea finished two points ahead of Aston Villa in the six-team standings for the preseason Premier League Summer Series event, giving Mauricio Pochettino his first silverware.
Chelsea are still unbeaten in preseason and will conclude their tour of the United States on Thursday with a match against Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund at Chicago’s Soldier Field.
