According to the article, it is apparent to look at what might be termed the ‘ideal’ finale to Chelsea’s 2023 summer transfer window in what has been yet another extremely busy year for the club.
The 2023/24 Premier League season has begun, and Chelsea will return to action under Mauricio Pochettino in around 24 hours…READING WILL BE CONTINUED
The Argentine will be determined to turn the club’s on-pitch fortunes around in his debut season at Stamford Bridge after what was a dismal 2022/23 campaign. No European football for Chelsea means there will be extra focus on the Premier League this season and their first test is an incredibly difficult one against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
Even though Pochettino and the players’ sole focus will be on the test Liverpool will bring, there is no getting away from what is happening behind the scenes in the transfer window. It is dominating the online world, as it does every summer, with Chelsea particularly prominent with their business once again under the ownership of Todd Boehly.
So, with that being said, football.london takes a look at what would be considered the ‘dream’ conclusion to this transfer window from a Chelsea point of view…
Chelsea’s dream end to the window
IN: Moises Caicedo (Brighton), Michael Olise (Crystal Palace), Giorgio Mamardashvili (Valencia), Romeo Lavia (Southampton)
OUT: Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Romelu Lukaku, Hakim Ziyech
All of the talk over the last couple of days has been about Chelsea and Liverpool battling it out to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton. The Reds saw a £110million offer for the 21-year-old accepted in the early hours of Friday morning, but the midfielder never agreed on personal terms with the Merseyside-based club, football.london understands.
Caicedo made it clear from the start that he favoured a move to west London and to Chelsea. And Chelsea now look set to finally get the man they have been after for the majority of the summer transfer window. Finally, the saga looks to be over.
If Chelsea can indeed complete the deal and bring Caicedo to the Bridge, then that will be the dream outcome for all of the supporters who have been so tightly invested in what has turned into a massive drama. Needless to say, he goes straight into the Chelsea XI and instantly improves the side.
Also, Romeo Lavia is expected to sign from Southampton. Chelsea are extremely confident they can bring the Belgium international to the club after positive negotiations with the Saints on Friday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Michael Olise from Crystal Palace is someone Chelsea are seriously interested in now and are considering making a move for the talented Frenchman. The 21-year-old winger still has three years remaining on his contract at the Eagles but is keen to move on from Selhurst Park this summer.
Manchester City also hold a keen interest in Olise, but at the moment, Chelsea have done more groundwork than the Premier League champions and are set to open talks with Palace soon. Contact has already been made between Chelsea and Olise’s entourage and football.london understands the French winger is keen on moving to west London.
Chelsea are open to allowing Kepa Arrizabalaga to leave the club following the arrival of Robert Sanchez from Brighton. Kepa is of interest to Bayern Munich, who would look to take him on an initial season-long loan deal with the option to buy, something Chelsea are thought to be open to accepting.
If this does indeed happen, then it is set to trigger Chelsea into action in the goalkeeper department. The club’s top target looks to be Giorgio Mamardashvili from Valencia after studying the Georgia international intensely towards the end of last season.
The Blues had scouts presents at multiple Valencia matches and were impressed with what they saw from Mamardashvili. The 22-year-old has been a target for Bayern Munich, too, this summer, but it seems Thomas Tuchel’s side have moved onto other options now.

Football.london knows that Conor Gallagher is still expected to be sold. Tottenham is among the clubs interested in the England international. Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou is said to be a big fan of Gallagher, and it’s a move that might happen later in the summer, especially with the large cash injection they’re due to get from Bayern Munich for Harry Kane.
Trevoh Chalobah could possibly be offloaded before the summer transfer window shuts. Throughout the summer, football.london reported that the 24-year-old defender is willing to leave Chelsea but will not aggressively pursue a move away from the club. The sentiment is mutual, with the Blues open to proposals following the arrival of Axel Disasi. CONTINUE READING…
