If Graham Potter fails to beat Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly is set to appoint former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel as club manager. Keep Reading.
Thomas Tuchel is one of several managers linked with the job of replacing Graham Potter at Chelsea if he is fired in the coming weeks. The German had only been fired in September.
He is a fan favorite after winning the Champions League in 2021, but it hasn’t been an easy 18 months in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Tuchel pushed for the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan in the summer of 2022, but is said to have had a falling out with him months later, resulting in his loan to Inter this season.
Lukaku is set to return to Chelsea next season unless a new contract is agreed upon, and he could, in theory, be reunited with Tuchel.
This is something that could come back to haunt all parties if either decision is made. Thierry Henry, on the other hand, believes otherwise, explaining the striker’s situation.
N’Golo Kante is back.
Chelsea have received a significant boost as they enter the final three weeks of the season, with star midfielder N’Golo Kante returning to training with his teammates.
Kante hasn’t played since mid-August due to injury, and a late setback forced him to have surgery before Christmas. On his day, he is one of the world’s best and most unique players.
Potter hasn’t had a chance to use Kante yet, but he’ll be rewarded handsomely when the 31-year-old makes his next appearance.
Position of Josko Gvardiol
Chelsea target Josko Gvardiol scored for RB Leipzig against Manchester City on Wednesday night in the Champions League. City and Real Madrid are both interested in the Croatian defender.
The Bundesliga side remain determined to keep their prize asset though with manager manager Marco Rose saying,
“Josko Gvardiol will be an RB Leipzig player next season as well. I’m the coach, and I’m requesting it. “He’s happy here,” said the coach after the 1-1 tie.
“He stated that he wants to play in the Premier League, but he did not specify when,” Rose continued.
